SLOW FADE

Another great set of knuckles, this time from America’s hat, also known as Canada. Here is the story:

My name is James from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. SLOW FADE is a song written by a great Edmonton band called Choke (RIP). The tattoo reminds me that my dreams are in reach as long as I stay true to what I believe in. Resisting the temptations of security, and refusing to settle. “And I Trust There’s Ways To Maintain These Truths That I Know, Cause It’s All That I Know.”

OPEN SINS

Sean Fox sends us his hands and his story:

These were done by a friend, from his house.  His name is Mark LeMay in Airdrie, AB, Canada.  He’s a talented artist, and decided to divehead into tattoos.   This is the 3rd piece he’s done on me.

The letters look uneven in the photos, but they’re dead on, it was just the way I was holding my fists.

Right now they look like crap though from smashing my knuckles up all day at work [Welder/HD Mechanic]. Career killing ink, he was nervous to do it. Guess I’m a blue collar for life.

I’ll get some better pics after the touch ups. The pics I have were right after getting them done, prior to washing the excess and ink and blood off.

By the way, the reason for the words, with the way I live my life I’ve tended to stick to the motto of “better to be an open sinner than a false saint”.  I’m the only one in the family that doesn’t believe in a higher power, and I’ve always been the outcast [refer to 15+ piercings].  Being told I’m a ‘sinner’ on a daily basis just brings more meaning to them.

LIVE LIFE

Got these knuckles in and couldn’t wait to post them. Here is the story:

My name is Dev and I’m from Baltimore, Maryland. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, I went through chemo-therapy, and my cancer is currently in remission. While being treated for my cancer I realized how short life really is because I was only 26 at the time of my diagnosis. My chemo traetments were successful, giving me a second chance at life. So I decided to get the tattoo “live life” on my knuckles. I choose to get it on my knuckles so everyone could see it, because i really mean what it says. People often get tattoos in places where they can cover them up for jobs or to be accepted by certain people, but I say fuck that life is short live it to the fullest and do what you want to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAND MADE

Just got this update from Richard Baggett. I had taken his picture at the Lonestar Round Up and he wanted to add his story to his knuckles:

I’m an Artist Blacksmith in Fort Worth,Texas.
I’ve allways worked with my hands. A skill I thank my grandfathers for. Working with metal has always been my favorite medium. Several years ago a great guy introduced me to Blacksmithing.
Now I build hand forged sculptures. Hence the tattoo “HAND MADE”.

YOYO LIFE

Here is a set of knuckles about life’s ups and downs. But don’t take my word for it. Here is what John Huber has to say about them:

My name is John Huber, and I’m a professional yo-yo player out of Seattle, Washington.  I’ve been playing with yo-yos for going on 8 years now, have won a couple of contests, and even managed to land a clothing sponsorship.  Yo-yos aren’t just a toy to someone like me.  It’s an art form.  It’s how I meditate.  It’s what I was put here to do.

If you want to see a couple of my videos, you can find them on my MySpace page.
http://www.myspace.com/johnnynameless

And for the record, if it wasn’t for me watching Tommy Smothers when I was a kid, I don’t think I would’ve picked up a yo-yo when I got older.  The Yo-Yo Man made it look like it was the cool thing to do.

FREE HUGS

This great sentiment just came in:

My name is Nikki Lynn and these were done by Mark @ Exotic Ink in Conyers, GA.

The story behind them is 2 years ago when I was at a concert at Six Flags, there was a booth selling merchandise with “free hugs” on it. I bought a hat and t-shirt from them and wore them around the concert along with a few other people. There were tons of people that kept running up to me asking for hugs and it was so exciting. I still have that hat and shirt and occasionally wear them because I love getting hugs! I figured that if someone else was having a bad day, they could always use a hug, too. So I decided to get “free hugs” tattooed on my knuckles as a kind of permanent symbol since I can’t always wear my hat or shirt. :)
